Since graduating from Edinburgh College of Art in 2006 I have combined my jewellery work with roles within arts administration and creative learning.
My work is concerned with an enjoyment of exploring materials and colour. I rarely produce the same piece twice, preferring instead to work more spontaneously with materials including precious metals, wood, and semi-precious beads and stones. I'm inspired by urban environments and the small details, found materials, structures and patterns that can be found in unexpected places. While certain patterns, techniques and motifs recur in my work, I treat each piece as a small sketch in materials, using processes such as saw piercing, wire work and enamelling, and let each one develop its own micro-personality.
